WHAT WILL PARENTS NEED TO KNOW?

The information below is designed to answer any questions parents might have about a trip with Outposts. If we have failed in our mission and you still have questions, please do contact us

PARENT’S PRESENTATION

We would be very happy to come to your school and give a presentation to staff, parents and students about the trip, so they know what to expect.

FAQS

What kit should I pack?
You will be sent a kit list a few weeks prior to the trip detailing everything your child will need. Please read this carefully. It is important that you let the school know if you can unable to source anything on that list so alternative arrangements can be made.

What are the sleeping arrangements?
Students are split into male and female rooms/tents. If you feel that this is not suitable and would like to discuss a different solution, please contact the school who will liaise with Outposts.

Where do the teachers sleep?
Teachers sleep in separate lodges/tents near to the group and are on duty during the night to deal with any issues that might occur. Students will be briefed once they are on site about what to do if they need help. Outposts staff are always on site.

What happens in the event of an emergency?
Outposts have thorough emergency procedures in place and a member of their staff is always on site to deal with anything which might occur, alongside the school staff.

My child has a medical condition – what should I do?
The school should be aware of any medical conditions, if not please update the school office. This information will be passed on to Outposts as appropriate and in accordance with GDPR.

Are dietary requirements catered for?
Outposts cater for all dietary requirements. If the school is not aware of these, please update your information. This will be passed on to Outposts two weeks prior to the trip to ensure we are catering accordingly.

If you would rather deliver the presentation yourself, we can produce a personalised PowerPoint as well as a letter template to ease the burden. All you need to do is ask.

Does my child need to take money on the trip?
Your child will not need to bring any money with them.

What wash facilities are there?
There are hot showers in each of the lodges and gas fired eco-showers for the campsite.

Is the site near a road?
The site is well away from the road, the nearest one is a country lane. The site is fenced and/or hedged the way around.

What safety and security measures are in place?
The site entrance is covered by CCTV which is monitored by the Head Office staff. Fences and/or hedges border the entire site. All visitors must report to reception. Outposts staff will all be in uniform and they encourage anyone seen not wearing this to be reported to them but not approached.

Can my child take their mobile phone?
There is little or no mobile reception at the Bush Camp and Lodges. WiFi and a landline are available for staff only. Information will be sent out regarding the use of phones.

Can I contact my child while they are away?
We encourage you only to contact your child only when strictly necessary. Please contact Outposts directly and they will ensure a message is given to school staff to pass on. Call the Head Office on 01823 451959. Outside of office hours this is diverted to the camp area or a duty manager who can assist.
