Bush Camp Lodge Accommodation

Welcome to our simple and cosy Bush Camp Lodges, set within 70 acres in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lodges and Bush Camp are tucked away, in your own private hidden valley, nestled in the Somerset countryside.

A secluded haven, on the edge of the wild Quantock Hills, and not far from the coast, with stunning views across the farmland and hills beyond. With bird song as your alarm clock every morning, we know you will find our lodges a relaxing retreat. A complete getaway from the “madding crowd.”

No WiFi, little mobile reception, just yourselves in a beautiful spot of pristine countryside.

Our stay at Lydeard Farm was everything we needed & more. From the outdoor fire pit to the coal bbq, it catered for our every need. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, and hope to make it a yearly stay!

Thank you to Catherine & Michael for welcoming us with open arms and for making our stay perfect.

July 2021

You’ll have a wonderful stay at the Bush Camp lodges.

In the middle of rural Somerset, it’s a wonderful escape from distractions. Catherine was a wonderful host, very attentive and always happy to offer local tips for the area. The accommodation was just what we needed and extremely clean. We particularly enjoyed the hill at the top to lie on the grass and enjoy the sun.

Overall, it’s a really unique place to stay and the perfect mix between adventure and home comforts.

Each lodge has its own bathroom including two separate shower cubicles, two WCs and two wash basins. These are located in between the bedrooms and accessible via the covered walk way that links all the rooms at the front of the lodges. Please remember to bring your own toiletries and hand soap. Disinfectant will be provided.

The bunkroom

Each of the lodges has three rooms. One double rooms and two bunkrooms. Lodge A has one double, one room with two bunks and one room with one bunk. Lodge B is slightly larger and has two bunks in each of the bunk rooms.

The double bedroom

The larger double room for two has plenty of room for a cot if you want to bring young children. The lodge are in line of site of the Bush Camp Shelter so your baby monitors will work. The windows have shutters against light pollution, subdued lighting and plugs for charging.

Bush Camp kitchen

The Bush Camp Kitchen is located in the shelter. It might be basic but it has all essentials for you to use to prepare and cook meals. There is a large gas oven, sink, fridge, small microwave, and plenty of worktop space. We will provide an electric kettle, a toaster and a kettle that can boil water on the gas oven. There is shelving for large plastic boxes for storage.

Dining communal space

A short walk from the lodges, is our unique African style Bush Camp Shelter enclosed on its own surrounded by woodland and pasture. With its soft gas lighting and wood burner, you really are off grid and can get back to nature in a beautiful oasis of calm. This is where you will find the kitchen facilities and the rustic dining room forms the main communal space of the Bush Camp. Outside, the braai (BBQ) area provides plenty of space to sit and relax in the sunshine, or around the campfire under the canopy of stars at night.

Braai (BBQ) Area

Part of the magic of this Bush Camp is the braai area for enjoying a BBQ. Light a fire on the raised platform, then sit around and chat into the night under the stars, even sing a song. Remember what the night sounds like and let the atmosphere of peace and solitude wash over you. A bag of charcoal will be provided.
