Meet The Team

Founder & Managing Director

Colonel Michael Kingscote

On completion of a full military career, during which he commanded a UK Special Forces Regiment, Michael founded Outposts Ltd in 1988. Since then the company has expanded to provide outdoor training to over 8500 clients annually. It simultaneously mounts overseas expeditions.

Michael’s wide military experience encompasses the conventional and the unorthodox. He has led challenging expeditions in many parts of the world, particularly in the deserts and mountains of the Middle East and Africa. His life has always been an active one and he fully appreciates the need in peoples’ lives to be able to work alone or to benefit from working as a team. His extraordinary military background and expertise in expedition leading make him well qualified for the task.

He is an Accredited Practitioner of The Institute of Outdoor Learning, Honorary Colonel of the RTMC and Lieutenant of The Queen’s Bodyguard of the Yeoman of The Guard.

Operations Director

Chloe Harman

Chloe is passionate advocate for the power of outdoor learning for children and adults. She was fortunate enough to grow up in the countryside and was a keen scout; this cemented an early love for the outdoors and sport. She studied Sport Psychology at University and throughout university worked as an instructor at an Outdoor Education Centre and was able to tie in a lot of her university work in a practical setting. Following graduation she worked hard to develop her practical skills and qualifications as well as building up a large repertoire of ‘soft skills’. She has developed and run workshops on reviewing techniques, sustainability in the outdoor industry and leadership theory.
She was promoted through Senior Instructor to Chief Instructor to Operations Manager at Mill on The Brue and is now Operations Director with Outposts Ltd where she can apply all of her experience.

Programme Facilitator

Chris Ray

Chris has had extensive experience in team work training and leadershipdevelopment. He started out in the Marines, recruiting and training commandos. WHY WORK WITH OUTPOSTS?

Customer Service

We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our clients. Nothing is too much bother. Communication is a powerful tool – we believe in leading by example for all our clients.

EXPERTS

Our facilitators have years of experience. They come from a variety of backgrounds but are united in their passion for using their knowledge to develop people and businesses.

ACCREDITED COURSES

As an ILM Approved Centre we can not only deliver ILM Level 3 and 4 Awards in Leadership and Management but create our own content within City & Guilds guidelines.

TAILORED APPROACH

There is no “one size fits all” in our approach. We work with organisations from global engineering companies to schools and individuals and each experience is completely bespoke.

GLOBAL LOCATIONS

Our training programmes can take place either in Somerset at our purpose-built site or we can travel to you, be that in the UK or to global locations, enabling you to provide consistent training.

OUTSTANDING FEEDBACK

We would say that what we do is excellent value for money but who better to back that up than our customer feedback, many of whom have been working with us for several years.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

We believe in the power of experiential learning being interwoven with team and leadership development theory. Remember: I hear, and I will forget, I see, and I remember, I do, and I understand.

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS

The soft skills we develop during our programmes, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership and communication, are transferable between workplaces, education and life.

“You have transformed the way I empower staff in formulating an exciting vision for the future. The fact you will be returning to hold me to account helps provide real momentum too. Thank you.”
