ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES LICENSING AUTHORITYAALA
Outposts Ltd is one of 900 licensed providers in the United Kingdom under The Adventure Activities Licence Regulations 1996: the aim of the licensing scheme is to give assurance that good safety management practice is being followed so that young people can continue to have opportunities to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors while not being exposed to avoidable risk of death and disabling injury. Requirements on providers are drawn from existing health and safety legislation. Outposts Ltd is registered with The Adventure Activities Licensing Service as licensed to provide specified activities under the following headings: Climbing, Trekking, Watersports, Off-Road Cycling, Caving. The scheme guarantees that providers have been inspected and have demonstrated compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.



YOUNG EXPLORERS TRUST (YET) – British Standard 8848
YETYET is a national charity dedicated to promoting safe and responsible expeditions for young people. Established in 1972 YET is a registered charity, seeking to promote safe and responsible expeditions for young people. By so doing it aims to give young people the opportunity to take part in exploration, discovery, and challenging adventure so as to help foster the qualities of service, self-sufficiency, and leadership.

In February 2009, YET identified, examined and evidenced the policies and procedures of Outposts Ltd in respect of its operations outside the United Kingdom.

In addition, YET tested the application of these policies and procedures with reference to two sample ventures, and their Venture Leadership, and determined that these ventures operate in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company.

On the basis of the evidence and information provided, together with the answers given to YET questioning and tests on the application thereof, YET consider that the overseas operating procedures and controls of Outposts Ltd conform British Standard 8848:2007+A1:2009.

Outposts Ltd is a member of the Expedition Providers Association which was at the forefront of helping to create BS8848, and also the EVAC badge for overseas expeditions.

The Institute encourages participation in outdoor learning by developing quality, safety and opportunity in outdoor and by supporting and enhancing the good practice of those who work in the field.

Outposts Ltd is a member of the Institute and supports its aims of commitment to excellence, supported by policies of environmental sustainability and management of diversity. The Managing Director of Outposts Ltd is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute.
